Gene was born in Houma, a south Louisiana gulf coast community famous for it's bountiful seafood industry, picturesque wetlands and fabulous fishing and hunting.
A graduate of the LSU school of Architecture and a private practicioner through June 2007, Gene started painting professionally in 1999 after recovery from serious cancer surgery.
While recuperating and being concerned about the potential future effects of cancer, he needed something new in his life, a challenge that would be meaningful and mentally demanding.
"I fell in love with watercolor painting and my art became my PASSION "
"My cancer fears and concerns were diminished while my love and desire to paint accelerated."
Gene then embarked upon his new and very rewarding journey with watercolor art, developing his own artistic style and techniques, from which he has produced many fine images.
